Sisters of Brevard Unite was built around a simple but powerful idea: when women have a meaningful place to connect, encourage one another, and build relationships, that connection can become a force for good in the wider community.
Our sisterhood is the foundation — but service is where that sisterhood leads. We create opportunities for women to come together, give back, support community initiatives, volunteer, build partnerships, and help strengthen Brevard County.

Our Story
How Sisters of Brevard Unite Began.
SOBU did not begin with a building, a program, or a formal organization. It began with women connecting — and a growing belief that those relationships could become something meaningful for the wider community.
It Started With Connection
A Community of Women
Sisters of Brevard Unite began as a Facebook-based community where women could connect, interact, encourage one another, and build relationships.
Connection Became Sisterhood
Relationships Grew
As the community grew, it became clear that SOBU could be more than an online space. Women were building connections, sharing experiences, supporting one another, and developing a stronger sense of community and belonging.
Sisterhood Found a Purpose
Service Reached Beyond the Group
The vision began moving beyond connection alone. SOBU saw an opportunity to turn the energy of the sisterhood outward through volunteerism, community initiatives, partnerships, and meaningful service.

From Community Group to Nonprofit
As the vision became more serious, Sisters of Brevard Unite began establishing the nonprofit structure, governance, policies, financial systems, and programs needed to serve responsibly and build something sustainable for the future.

SOBU's role is not to try to become everything to everyone. We strengthen community by building relationships, serving responsibly, bringing people together, and helping connect residents with established resources when another organization is better equipped to help.

We help bring people, organizations, information, and opportunities together. When residents need specialized assistance, our role may be to help identify an appropriate community resource or established provider.

Our Approach
Strengthen What Already Exists. Fill Practical Gaps Where We Can.
Brevard County already has many organizations doing important work. SOBU does not need to duplicate specialized services in order to make an impact. We can strengthen the existing community-service network by connecting people, mobilizing support, partnering well, and responding responsibly where our mission and capacity allow.
Our goal is not to do everything. Our goal is to do meaningful work well — and bring the right people together to make it stronger.
Who We Serve
Sisterhood Is Our Foundation. Community Is Our Reach.
Sisters of Brevard Unite centers women in sisterhood while extending service, partnership, volunteer opportunities, and community initiatives beyond the sisterhood itself.
Women 18+
Formal SOBU community membership is designed for women age 18 and older who intentionally choose to identify with the mission, values, sisterhood, and service vision of the organization.

Individuals & Families
SOBU's charitable programs and community initiatives are not limited only to women. Appropriate programs may serve individuals, children, families, older adults, men, and other residents throughout Brevard County.

Volunteers & Partners
Formal membership is not required to support SOBU's mission. Community members can contribute through volunteering, sponsorship, partnerships, donations, committees, projects, and other approved activities.

An Important Distinction
Women-Centered Does Not Mean Community-Exclusive.
Women form the heart of SOBU's sisterhood identity and formal community membership. That sisterhood then turns outward in service. Our public programs, partnerships, volunteer opportunities, and charitable work can involve and benefit the broader community.

Participation in an SOBU event, volunteer activity, Facebook group, or community program does not by itself create formal community membership.

What makes Sisters of Brevard Unite distinctive is not simply what we do. It is how we build relationships, how we approach service, how we work with others, and the experience we want people to have when SOBU enters a community.

Brevard County already has organizations, agencies, businesses, faith communities, healthcare providers, and nonprofits doing important work. SOBU seeks to strengthen that network by building relationships and collaborating rather than unnecessarily recreating services that already exist.
How We Serve Matters
People are more than the circumstances that bring them to a program, event, or resource. We want every person who encounters SOBU to feel welcomed, respected, valued, and treated with dignity.
Joy Has a Place in Service
Community service can address real needs while still creating celebration, hope, laughter, connection, and belonging. Helping people does not require defining them by hardship.

SOBU does not have to become everything to everyone in order to make an impact. We serve where our mission, resources, partnerships, and capacity allow — and help connect people with established providers when specialized support is needed.
