What Is Feed the Community?
Feed the Community is Sisters of Brevard Unite's annual flagship community-service event — bringing people together around food, service, recreation, resources, and meaningful community connection.
The free meal is an important part of Feed the Community, but the vision goes beyond food. The event is designed to create a welcoming place where residents and families can eat, enjoy activities, meet neighbors, connect with community organizations, and experience service in an atmosphere of dignity, joy, and belonging.
Each part of the event contributes to the larger goal of creating a meaningful community experience.
Free meals help meet a practical need while creating an inviting reason for people to gather, sit together, and enjoy the day.
Volunteers, sponsors, businesses, organizations, and other supporters help turn the event from an idea into practical service for the community.
Games, music, entertainment, and family-friendly activities help create an atmosphere where service and joy can exist together.
The event creates opportunities for neighbors, families, volunteers, and community organizations to meet, interact, share resources, and build stronger relationships.
Feed the Community is designed to bring together the people who live here and the people and organizations willing to help strengthen the community.
Feed the Community is not only about what people receive that day. It is about what can happen when a community comes together to eat, play, serve, and connect.

Whether you come for a meal, the games, the music, or simply the opportunity to spend time with your community, the goal is the same: create a day where people feel welcome and connected.
What to Expect
Feed the Community is being designed as a joyful, family-friendly day where people can enjoy a meal, get active, have fun, connect with others, and simply spend time together as a community.
Participating food providers will help make the meal promise possible by providing free meals for community attendees. Our 2026 goal is to provide at least 100 free meals.
Kickball brings movement, laughter, friendly competition, and plenty of opportunities for participants to get involved in the fun.
Volleyball adds another way for people to move, play, cheer one another on, and enjoy a little friendly competition during the community day.
Family-friendly game stations will give children opportunities to play, participate, and enjoy activities planned with fun, organization, and safety in mind.
Music and family-friendly local talent will help keep the energy flowing throughout the day while supporting the meals, games, activities, and overall community experience.
Feed the Community is also an opportunity to meet neighbors, connect with community organizations, learn about available resources, and strengthen relationships across Brevard County.
The goal is not to pack the day with activities just for the sake of being busy. Every part of Feed the Community should contribute to a safe, enjoyable experience where people can eat, play, connect, and feel genuinely welcome.
The Free Meal Promise
Food is one of the ways Feed the Community puts service into action. For our inaugural event, Sisters of Brevard Unite is working with food providers, sponsors, and community supporters toward a minimum goal of 100 free meals.
A shared meal can create a moment of welcome, conversation, and connection. Our goal is to provide at least 100 free meals while creating an experience where people can enjoy the day without being defined by why they came.
Participating food providers can help move the meal goal forward by committing a set number of meals for community attendees.
Community sponsorships, donations, and in-kind support can help strengthen the event and expand what SOBU is able to provide.
The meal is one part of a larger day built around connection, recreation, service, resources, and spending time together as a community.
Feed the Community is designed to be welcoming and respectful. People should not have to publicly explain a hardship, be photographed, or tell their personal story in order to receive a meal or participate in the event.
You do not have to be a member of Sisters of Brevard Unite to receive a free meal or participate in Feed the Community. Meal availability will depend on the number of meals secured for the event and the distribution procedures established for the day.
The goal is simple: serve the meal with care, welcome people with dignity, and create room for connection around the table.
Why Feed the Community Matters
Feed the Community is about more than what happens during one event. It is an opportunity to turn compassion into action, bring people together, create moments of joy, and make community service something people can experience together.
Sisters of Brevard Unite was built around the belief that connection becomes even more meaningful when it leads to service. Feed the Community gives that belief a public expression by bringing residents, volunteers, businesses, sponsors, organizations, food providers, and community partners together around a shared purpose.
Instead of separating service from joy, the event brings food, recreation, resources, hospitality, and relationships into the same community experience.
Food is something people understand immediately. Providing free meals allows Feed the Community to meet a practical need while creating a welcoming reason for people to gather around the same tables and shared spaces.
Community service does not have to feel heavy. Music, games, recreation, laughter, and family-friendly activities create room for people to enjoy themselves while participating in something meaningful.
The event gives neighbors, families, volunteers, businesses, organizations, and community partners an opportunity to meet one another, build relationships, share resources, and serve alongside one another.
Feed the Community brings different parts of community life together instead of treating food, recreation, service, and relationships as separate experiences.
Feed the Community should feel welcoming, respectful, and community-centered. People are not there to be defined by a need or hardship. They are neighbors, families, volunteers, supporters, and community members participating in a shared experience.
A meal can meet a need. A game can create joy. A conversation can create connection. Put them together with service and community, and one day can become the beginning of something bigger.
Volunteers
Feed the Community will take more than good ideas. It will take people willing to show up, lend a hand, welcome others, and help the day run smoothly from beginning to end.
Volunteers help turn the plans of every committee into real event-day support. From welcoming guests and helping with activities to assisting with check-in, assignments, movement, setup, and cleanup, volunteers help create an event that feels organized, welcoming, and ready to serve.
“You do not have to do everything. You just have to be willing to help with something.”
Final volunteer assignments will be based on event-day needs, schedules, safety, and the number of volunteers available.
Help prepare event areas, move supplies, arrange activity spaces, and assist with the practical details needed before guests arrive.
Help greet attendees, provide basic directions, support check-in procedures, and help people know where to go.
Assist with kickball, volleyball, kid-friendly activity stations, supplies, participant flow, and other game-day needs assigned by the event team.
Help support the flow around meal distribution areas, provide directions, and assist with approved non-food-handling event tasks as assigned.
Help attendees locate activities, community resources, event areas, and the people or stations they need.
Help restore event spaces, organize remaining supplies, assist with breakdown, and help the team close out the day well.
Formal membership in Sisters of Brevard Unite is not required to volunteer. Feed the Community welcomes people who want to contribute their time, energy, skills, and willingness to serve. Volunteer opportunities may be available to people of different genders and backgrounds, subject to the requirements and needs of each assignment.
Whether you can help before the event, during the event, or as the day wraps up, there may be a place for you to serve.
VOLUNTEER WITH USSponsors & Community Partners
Feed the Community grows stronger when local businesses, organizations, food providers, civic groups, faith communities, and individual supporters bring their resources together around a shared purpose.
Sponsorship and partnership help turn Feed the Community from a plan into a real community experience. Support may help strengthen the free-meal effort, provide needed event resources, reduce program costs, and connect SOBU with people and organizations that share a commitment to serving Brevard County.
Some organizations may be able to provide financial support. Others may have food, supplies, services, volunteers, expertise, or relationships that help strengthen the event.
Sponsorship can help offset approved event expenses, strengthen meal support, and provide resources needed to deliver a safe, organized, and welcoming community day.
Donated meals, water, printing, entertainment, event supplies, professional services, and other approved resources may reduce costs and help the event go further.
A community partnership may include sharing resources, providing volunteers, connecting people to services, offering expertise, or working together to meet an identified event or community need.
Businesses and organizations may be able to support Feed the Community through approved goods, services, or resources rather than—or in addition to—financial sponsorship.
Feed the Community is designed to bring different parts of Brevard County together. The starting question is simple: “How can we work together to meet this need?”
Feed the Community sponsorship levels, benefits, recognition opportunities, and specific event needs are being developed. Interested sponsors and community partners can connect with Sisters of Brevard Unite now to begin the conversation.
Whether your organization can sponsor, donate goods or services, provide volunteers, share expertise, or build a community connection, we would like to hear from you.
How We Will Measure Success
The number of meals served matters — but it will not tell the whole story. We also want to understand who participated, who helped make the event possible, how people experienced the day, what resources were shared, what the event cost, and what we can learn for the future.
Feed the Community is SOBU's inaugural flagship service event. That means 2026 is not only an opportunity to serve — it is also an opportunity to establish a real baseline. We will use actual event information and participant experience to understand what worked, what needs improvement, and what responsible growth should look like.
“Measure what happened. Learn from the experience. Use what we learn to serve better.”
These measures will help SOBU understand both the reach of the event and the people, partnerships, resources, and costs that made it possible.
Track how many free meals were actually provided during the event compared with the established meal goal.
Understand how many people participated in the community day and the overall reach of the inaugural event.
Record how many volunteers served and the volunteer hours contributed to planning and event-day support.
Track the businesses, organizations, food providers, sponsors, and community partners that helped make the event possible.
Document financial sponsorships and donated goods or services that supported the event.
Record community information, resource connections, and other useful materials shared during the event.
Listen to what participants say about the experience so SOBU can understand what felt welcoming, useful, enjoyable, and worth improving.
Review what the event cost and how sponsorships, donated resources, and other support affected the resources required.
After Feed the Community, SOBU will review what happened, what worked, what challenges emerged, what participants and partners shared with us, and what should change before the event is planned again.
The inaugural event will establish the baseline that helps SOBU make future decisions using real experience rather than assumptions.
We want to know what we accomplished, how people experienced the day, what the event taught us, and how we can serve the community even better next time.
